【摘要】:Likeothertechniquestomeasuretoughness,thistestmethodprovidesameanstodetermineparametersofamaterialatstrainratesclosertosomeend-useapplicationsthanprovidedbylow-speeduniaxialtensiletests.Dynamictensilebehaviorofafilmisimportant,particularlywhenthefilmisusedasapackagingmaterial.Thesameuncertaintiesaboutcorrelationswiththicknessthatapplytootherimpacttestsalsoapplytothistest(seesection3.4ofTestMethodsD1709).Hence,noprovisionforrationalizingtounitthicknessisprovided.Also,noprovisionismadefortestingatnon-ambienttemperatures.Thistestmethodincludestwoprocedures,similarexceptwithregardtosamplesize:ProcedureAfor60-mmdiameterandProcedureBfor89-mmdiameter(commonlycalledthex201C;Spencerx201D;).Thedatahavenotbeenshownrelatabletoeachother.Severalimpacttestmethodsareusedforfilm.Itissometimesdesirabletoknowtherelationshipsamongtestresultsderivedbydifferentmethods.Astudywasconductedinwhichfourfilmsmadefromtworesins(polypropyleneandlinearlow-densitypolyethylene),withtwofilmthicknessesforeachresin,wereimpactedusingTestMethodsD1709(MethodA),TestMethodD3420(ProceduresAandB),andTestMethodD4272.ThetestresultsareshowninAppendixX2.DifferencesinresultsbetweenTestMethodsD1709andD4272areexpectedsinceTestMethodsD1709representsfailureinitiatedenergywhileTestMethodD4272isinitiationpluscompletionenergy.Somefilmshaveshownconsistencywhentheinitiationenergywasthesameasthetotalenergy.ThisstatementandthetestdataalsoappearinthesignificanceandappendixessectionsofTestMethodsofD1709andD4272.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofresistanceoffilmtoimpact-puncturepenetration.Knowledgeofhowtheimpactenergyisabsorbedbythespecimenwhileitisdeformingundertheimpactloading,andthebehaviorofthespecimenafteryielding,isnotprovidedbythistest.Noprovisionismadefornonambienttemperaturesinthistestmethod.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardsstatementsaregiveninSection7.Note18212;ThereisnoknownISOequivalenttothisstandard.
